Take advantage of the warmer weather and longer days in Canada’s northern territories: the Yukon, Nunavut and so on. August is perfect for an Alaska cruise: one day you’ll be spotting grizzly bears, the next you could be cruising amongst whales. You wouldn’t know its winter at Australia’s top end - try visiting Darwin or Cairns for hot temperatures. New Zealand remains cool, though the North Island is slightly milder. Make sure you’re dressed for the cold!
