Malaysia Annual Climate
March to May and September to November are ideal times to visit Malaysia, as the weather is generally pleasant with moderate humidity, though these months can still be popular for tourism. In spring, Malaysia’s landscapes are lush, and you may catch glimpses of vibrant floral displays, particularly in the Cameron Highlands.
June to August, as well as December to February, bring warmer and more humid weather across the country. During these times, visitors often flock to Malaysia's beaches, islands, and highland regions such as Genting Highlands or the Cameron Highlands, which provide a cooler retreat. Malaysia’s two monsoon seasons—typically November to March for the northeast coast and May to September for the west coast—bring rainfall to different regions.
A unique experience awaits if you visit the east coast islands, such as Redang and the Perhentians, between April and October, as they are largely closed outside this period due to monsoon conditions.
Be mindful of Malaysia’s public holidays, which can affect travel and accommodation. The most notable are Hari Raya Aidilfitri (following Ramadan), Chinese New Year, and Merdeka Day on 31 August, when locals often travel or hold celebrations.
