Spend three full days in Cape Town before driving the short distance to the Cape Winelands.  Here you will explore the historic village of Franschhoek, exploring the many wineries in the region on the unique Wine Tram. Your final three nights are at Grootbos Private Reserve, home to the Marine version of the ‘Big Five’.

Day 1 : Cape Town

On arrival at Cape Town Airport, you will be met by a representative who will assist you to the car rental location. Collect your car and drive to your hotel. Your accommodation is the stunning Cape Grace Hotel, a luxury hotel situated on a private quay between Cape Town’s bustling V&A Waterfront and the tranquil yacht marina. From this ideal location you can access a variety of coffee shops, bars and restaurants. The Two Oceans aquarium is well worth a visit if you have time to spare.
 

Day 2 : Cape Town

Three full days to explore Cape Town. Drive along the Southern Cape Peninsula to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve via the fishing village of Hout Bay where you can take a boat trip to view the seal colony on Duiker Island. Visit the lighthouse at Cape Point and look over False Bay before continuing your journey back in time to the historic naval base village of Simon’s Town where you can visit the land-based African penguin colony at Boulders Beach. 

Day 3 : Cape Town

Visit the Castle of Good Hope, built by the Dutch East India Company in 1679. Head towards the Houses of Parliament and Company Gardens to visit the Iziko South African Museum and Iziko National Gallery. 

Day 4 : Cape Town

Don’t forget to head up the cableway to the summit of Table Mountain for views over the city and Table Bay followed by a visit to the famous Kirstenbosch Botantical Gardens.

Day 5 : Franschhoek

Today you will take the short drive to the Winelands region and your home for the next 2 nights in Franschhoek. You will stay at The Last Word Franschhoek, an exclusive five-star historic residence in the heart of Franschhoek village, the gourmet capital of South Africa. The Huguenot Memorial Museum details the arrival of the French Huguenot settlers to South Africa and their impact on the South African winemaking industry.

Day 6 : Franschhoek

A free day to explore the winelands and the village.  Included is admission to the Franschhoek Wine Tram, a unique journey through rolling vineyards in a vintage style railway tram and open-air tram-bus stopping in at some of South Africa’s oldest and most distinguished wine estates.  

Day 7 : Grootbos Reserve

Your drive south today takes you to Grootbos Private Nature Reserve, nestled between forest, mountain and sea, this five-star eco-paradise showcases the incredible Flora and Marine life of the Southern Tip of Africa. Home of the “Marine Big 5” - whales, sharks, dolphins, seals and penguins; and with unparalleled floral diversity, Grootbos offers you a one-of-a-kind luxury African experience in one of 64 National Geographic Unique Lodges of the World. Day 8 & 9 : Grootbos Reserve

Two full days to explore this unique region taking in a marine safari, birdwatching, walks and hikes on the reserve or relax at the spa. 

Day 10 : Cape Town

Your tour ends today with the two hour drive back to Cape Town, return your car to rental office at the Airport and continue on your journey.
