Whistler Winter Wonderland

Winter Wonderland

With an average of more than 10 meters a year of snow, Whistler in winter isn’t just for winter sports enthusiasts – far from it. Non-skiers can soak up the atmosphere in the village, relax slope-side in the winter sun and enjoy a raft of non-sport-related activities.

There is so much more to do than skiing in this huge world-class ski resort. This magical place offers a winter wonderland scene, spectacular wildlife and plenty of winter activities for everyone. Read more about our favourite things to do in Whistler for non-skiers on our blog section.

Day 2-6 : Whistler

Six days to enjoy everything this fun alpine resort has to offer. Explore the village, soak in the atmosphere and join in the après ski scene.

The Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre is well worth a visit and embodies the spirit of partnership between Whistler’s two First Nation cultures, the Squamish Nation and the Lil’wat Nation. There are guided or self-guided tours through the museum, interactive exhibits, contemporary galleries and a spectacular 15-minute film showcasing the nation’s traditional and modern cultures. Traditional song and dance ceremonies are on display, as well as traditional storytelling, craft making and demonstrations about Salish wool and cedar weaving. Visit the gift shop for one of the largest collections of indigenous art in Whistler or try indigenous-inspired food in the Thunderbird café.

Art lovers will want to visit the Audain Art Museum, boasting a comprehensive Permanent Collection of the province’s most celebrated artists. Exemplifying the richness of cultural differences in Canada, the collection takes visitors on a transformative visual journey from the late 18th century to the present. Highlights include hereditary Haida Chief James Hart’s The Dance Screen (The Scream Too), an exceptional collection of historical Indigenous masks, and key examples of the Vancouver photo conceptualism movement. In addition, the Museum hosts dynamic exhibitions from around the world.

Experience a range of included outdoor activities to enhance your enjoyment:

Whistler Blackcomb is the biggest ski area in Canada and the best way to see and experience the magnificence is from above the snow, so we’ve included a 1-day lift pass to enable you to do just that. Ride the gondolas and experience the views, including the impressive peak2peak that joins the two mountains.

A morning snowshoeing experience will take you through a forest full of mystery along an old trapper’s path. Learn traditional knowledge while you snowshoe and sample healing teas from plants that grow along The Medicine Trail. Travel deep into a special ancient forest in the Callaghan Valley. Hear a brief history of the area’s traditional uses and ways of past. Let your imagination go as you gaze upon giant cedar, fir and hemlock trees that provide a canopy high above. Finish back at the caboose for a rejuvenating snack by the fire.

Snowmobiles are fast becoming the way to get around without expending energy, and you’ll be thrilled by the sensation of driving a snowmobile, or sharing this mountain experience with a friend, as you embark on a classic après tour on Blackcomb Mountain.
