What Are Cookies?

A cookie is a small text file which is placed on your computer by the website you are visiting. The cookies used by our website are detailed in the table below along with a short description of their purpose. There are two types of cookies used by this website.

  • Session cookies are saved on your computer/mobile device for the duration of your visit to the site, for example to remember recently visited pages. After you leave the site, session cookies are deleted.
  • Persistent cookies remain on your computer/mobile device after you have finished browsing, for example so that the website recognises that you have visited us before and automatically logs you in. For convenience, it will also recall that you have agreed to our Cookie Policy so you are not required to do so on any subsequent visits to our website.

What Type Of Cookies Do We Use?

First Class Holidays use the types of cookies listed below on our website. The IP address of the computer or mobile device is collected and used as part of our website analysis for information such as location and website browser used. If additional cookies are used at any time, this policy will be updated.

  • Technical Cookies

These are required for the operation of our website. They include, for example, cookies that enable you carry out searches, log into secure areas of our website such as our Wishlist service or Travel Agent site.

  • Analytical Cookies

These allow us to gain an insight into how visitors use our website, so we can improve it. We are able to count the number of visitors and review which pages they visit. We also use these cookies to monitor which marketing activities are generating traffic to our website. We use Google Analytics to track this data and Hotjar to provide information on website performance.

  • Function Cookies

These are used to recognise you when you return to our website. This enables us to personalise our content for you and remember your preferences (for example, the destination or tour that you last searched for)

  • Targeting Cookies

These cookies may be used by us, social networking sites, other third-party suppliers and/or advertisers to record your visits to our website and enable interaction with you once you have left our website. The information obtained is used to personalise any adverts that you see for our products, whether they appear on our website or on third party websites.

We use these cookies in the following ways:

Searching our website & user experience

Cookies enable our search tool to remember any information you have inputted in order to improve the experience for you. For example, if you search for a tour on our website using the search tool, you will see the tour name prompted next time you enter it. Similarly, if you save any tours or hotels into our Wishlist, they will be stored.

It is cookies that enable us to do this by letting us know that you’re accessing our website from a particular device or computer, enabling us to work out what is most relevant to you.

We also advertise on third party digital services such as Facebook, YouTube, Google Adwords and Bing Ads and so you may be introduced to their cookies, for example if you click through to our website. Please refer to their cookie policies for information on their use.

When you are on other websites, you may see adverts showing hotels and flights that you searched for when you last visited our website. We work with selected advertising networks and agencies who use cookies on our website to collect information on your preferences, so that when you see one of our adverts somewhere else it is tailored to you. This information is collected using Google Analytics (see below).
