Laos TRAVEL ADVICE

You will be sure to love your time in Laos; there is so much to take in, in this beautiful and tranquil country. From its lush jungles and majestic mountains to the serene temples and warm hospitality, Laos offers a unique and captivating experience.

Passports & Visas:

  • You can get a visa on arrival in Laos for tourism for up to 30 days. For the most up-to-date information, check here. We recommend applying for an e-Visa online before your trip to simplify the entry process.

Language & Culture:

  • Lao is the official language of Laos, but English is increasingly spoken in tourist areas. The country has a rich cultural history with strong Buddhist traditions and a laid-back way of life.

Money & Expenses:

  • Laos is a largely cash-based society, so it's best to always carry some cash. The local currency is the Lao Kip (LAK), but US dollars and Thai Baht are also accepted in some areas. ATMs are available in major cities, and Visa and MasterCard are accepted in many hotels and restaurants, but not everywhere, so plan accordingly.
