Being a dynamic, cosmopolitan city, Singapore offers a multitude of events to entice visitors, from the spectacular such as the Formula 1 Grand Prix to the Neon Lights Music Festival, and insights offered into the city's vibrant multi-cultural heritage at the Chingay Parade and dragon boat races. 

Below is just a selection of the events: 

January - April: Chinese New Year with the annual River Hongbao festival featuring enormous lanterns depicting animals of the Chinese zodiac. The Chingay Parade showcases Singapore's unique multi-cultural heritage with dazzling floats, dancing dragons and stilt walkers. 

May - August: Held on the fifth day of the fifth month of the traditional Chinese lunar calendar, expect exciting Dragonboat Races and delicious rice dumplings.To watch these noisy and energetic races, head to places like Bedok Reservoir, Kallang River and the Marina Bay area. During the holy month of Ramadan, local Singaporean muslims fast and so visit the night markets in Kampong Glam and Geylang Serai for a lively atmosphere and delicious food.

September - December: Occurring every September is the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival which marks the end of the Autumn harvest. When night falls, families gather in places like Chinatown and Chinese Garden to feast on mooncakes, a traditional pastry which comes in a variety of flavours. During this festival, children carry and parade their lanterns with their families and friends.

Around October and November, the Festival of Lights commonly known as Deepavali is celebrated by Hindus. This colourful, lively extravaganza is best experienced in Little India where the streets are lined with beautiful lights. There are tonnes of bazaars too, so get ready to shop, try authentic Indian fare and take amazing photos of the street light-ups.

 

 

Being near to the Equator, Singapore is typically a warm climate and with it's own rainforest surroundings, it has relatively high humidity. This all provides a generally constant climate year round that is comfortable.
