Your Itinerary
Day 1-2 : Halifax
On arrival collect your rental car and drive to your downtown hotel for a two night stay. Explore Halifax at your leisure.
Day 3 : Lunenburg (65 miles)
Visit Peggy’s Cove and Mahone Bay before arriving in picturesque Lunenburg.
Day 4 : Yarmouth (160 miles)
Follow the Atlantic coast, where Shelburne’s waterfront reflects the heritage of the days when wooden ships sailed from here to Europe on your way to Yarmouth.
Day 5 : Digby (80 miles)
Perhaps go whale watching on the Bay of Fund when you arrive in Digby.
Day 6 : Wolfville (90 miles)
Explore Annapolis Royal, the oldest continuously settled town in Canada and see the ornate wooden houses of the aristocrats of years gone by in the Annapolis Valley.
Day 7 : Truro (100 miles)
Follow the shore of the Bay of Fundy, home to the world’s highest tides to Truro for a two night stay.
Day 8 : Joggins Fossil Cliffs
A free day or perhaps visit the Maritimes’ newest UNESCO World Heritage Site at Joggins, where the Bay of Fundy has exposed the largest cache of fossil bones in North America.
Day 9 : Cheticamp (190 miles)
Drive through the scenic hills of Eastern Nova Scotia and cross to Cape Breton Island by the causeway to Cheticamp and a two night stay.
Day 10 : Cabot Trail (190 miles)
The Cabot Trail follows the impressive coastline from sea level up to an alpine plateau 500m above the sea. Whales can often be spotted from the walking trails which overlook the coast and opportunities for seeing moose are excellent.
Day 11 : Sydney (105 miles)
Perhaps visit the Fortress of Louisbourg, Canada’s largest National Historic Site on your way.
Day 12 : Liscomb (165 miles)
Follow the shores of the Bras D’Or Lake, home to hundreds of Bald Eagles, back to the mainland and on to Liscomb for a two night stay.
Day 13 : Eastern Shore
Laze on the isolated beaches, explore the “back roads” or visit Sherbrooke Village, one of the largest “living museums” in the Maritimes.
Day 14 : Halifax Departure (110 miles)
Drop your car at the airport and check in for your onward flight.
