Your Itinerary
Day 1 : Vancouver to Ocean House
Depart Vancouver South Terminal around 7.00am by a chartered plane (90 mins) and fly into Sandspit from where you will be transferred by a helicopter to the Ocean House. You will be met upon arrival for check-in and an orientation with an Ocean House team member. Enjoy a breakfast buffet before the team discusses the activities that you would like to do over the next 3 days. The rest of day is at your own leisure and you have the opportunity to choose from the following activities: discover the beauty of Peel Inlet (guided walk), forest-bath and rejuvenate at Security Inlet or Kaisun Village, kayak / stand-up paddle board or absorb education opportunities with the Arist in Residence.
Day 2-3 : Ocean House
Over the next two days you will embark on guided excursions which connect you with the warm hospitality, rich history and culture, and the unique natural beauty for which Haida Gwaii is known. In addition to the pristine natural surroundings and immersive cultural and wildlife experiences, you’ll enjoy lodge amenities including a full-service spa, gym, library, bar and lounge, hot tub, sauna and a gift shop offering local artisan products.
Included activities you can choose from are:
- Discover the many flora and fauna at Peel Inlet (guided walk)
- Forest-bath and rejuvenate at Security Inlet or Kaisun Village
- Explore the ancient village of Ts’aahl
- Kayaking / stand-up paddle boarding
- Learning from the Artist in Residence
Day 4 : Ocean House to Haida House
Transfer from the Ocean House to Graham Island by helicopter. You will be transferred to Sandspit and shuttled by van across the inlet on a 20 minute ferry ride to Skidegate where you will be welcomed by a Haida House representative and transferred to Haida House. After check in you will enjoy a short beach and river walk along with an orientation reception before dinner with a cultural guest.
Day 5-7 : Haida House
Over the next three days you’ll take part in guided activities in the north of Graham Island, such as Old Massett, Tow Hill, Agate Beach and Port Clements, and in the south end, Skidegate, Queen Charlotte. Highlights include the excursion to SGang Gwaay, interpretive forest walks and a Haida dinner in the home of a Haida Chef. Each activity is carefully tailored to give you time to absorb the fascinating Haida culture and allow yourself to recalibrate in some of the most beatiful Island settings. Each day begins after a delicious breakfast with most activities ranging between 6 to 10 hours in length. Lunches and dinners are included.
Day 8 : Haida House to Vancouver
After breakfast, a Haida House representative will drive you back to Sandspit to meet your chartered flight back to Vancouver.
