This road trip begins in Alberta’s northmost city, Edmonton, from here head west to beautiful Jasper and then along the magnificent Icefields Parkway to Glacier View Lodge, for a memorable overnight stay. Continuing south you’ll arrive in the Kananaskis region, and it’s charming town of Canmore, less busy than nearby Banff but surrounded by equally spectacular scenery. Take in the mountain peaks with a scenic helicopter flight before ending your Alberta road trip in Calgary, home to the iconic Calgary stampede.

Your Itinerary
Day 1 : UK – Edmonton
Depart the UK for Edmonton. On arrival pick up your rental car and make your way to the Fairmont Macdonald, a beautiful hotel and the perfect way to begin your time in Alberta.
Day 2 : Edmonton
Today is free to explore the city. The North Saskatchewan River and River Valley Parklands weave through the city and there are countless spots to enjoy outdoor activities. Browse the shops of West Edmonton Mall, the largest mall in Canada and visit Elk Island National Park, just 50 minutes south of the city and an important refuge for bison, elk and more the 250 species of bird life.
Day 3 : Edmonton – Jasper
Your destination today is the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Jasper National Park, home the 2nd largest dark sky reserve in the world. It’s a truly magnificent place of wilderness and adventure, The town of Jasper is unpretentious and welcoming and the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge, which is your base for the next 3 nights, a memorable place to wake up.
Day 4&5 : Jasper
A morning wildlife tour is included with a knowledgeable guide who will seek out the park’s iconic wildlife as well as showing off the rugged and dramatic landscapes. A guided walk of Maligne Lake is also included, this gentle walk makes a short stop at ‘disappearing’ Medicine Lake before arriving at Maligne Lake.
Day 6 : Columbia Icefield
From Jasper head south on to the Icefield Parkway to Glacier Lodge, on the edge of the Athabasca Glacier. Your overnight stay includes a guided evening Icefield Skywalk tour, a morning tour of the Athabasca Glacier, 3 course evening meal, breakfast and welcome reception.
Day 7&8 : Columbia Icefields – Canmore
Sitting on the banks of the Bow River, Canmore is a charming town surrounded by the snow-capped peaks of the Rockies. A scenic helicopter flight is included over the Spray Valley, past the Three Sisters Peaks.
Day 9&10 : Canmore – Calgary
Continue south to Calgary for a 2-night stay. Known for its western hospitality, chef-driven cuisine, classic and quirky theatre and lively music events and outdoor festivals, Calgary is a vibrant city centred around four UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
Day 11 : Calgary – UK
Return your car to Calgary Airport for your flight back to the UK.
