Halifax
Be sure to visit Halifax, Nova Scotia’s bustling seaport capital; with its two mile long waterfront boardwalk, this city is full of shops, galleries, cafes and restaurants. Take a walking tour and see the historic ships and monuments. For even more history, be sure to head down to the Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21 or visit the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic.
Shaped by its seacoast, the world sings the praises of Nova Scotia’s seafood; from Atlantic salmon and fresh-caught lobster to succulent Digby scallops. Head to the Seaport Farmers’ Market to experience fantastic cuisine or take a winery tour with a renowned sommelier and sample award-winning vintages.
Peggy's Cove
Just an hour’s drive from Halifax is Peggy’s Cove. Once a quiet fishing community, Peggy’s Cove now attracts many travellers due to its famous and incredibly beautiful lighthouse. It is just one of 160 historic lighthouses in the province that have helped protect its coastline over the years. Peggy’s Cove has an abundance of colourful houses perched over the water, salty sea air and the roar of Atlantic waves that crash against the rocks, which make it a unique and picturesque spot; a must-visit for any traveller.
Cape Breton and Cabot Trail
And if you get chance, Cape Breton and the Cabot Trail are two more must-sees. Separated from ‘mainland’ Nova Scotia by the narrow Canso Strait, you must drive over a causeway to gain access to the island of Cape Breton. The Cabot Trail is located in the beautiful Cape Breton National Park at the north of the island; stunning highland coastline, rich forests and incredible wildlife await you – and you may even spot a few moose!
There really is so much to do and see in Nova Scotia; experience the awe of the world’s highest tides along the Bay of Fundy. Catch your breath as a whale surfaces right in front of you. Discover Old Town Lunenburg, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Discover breath-taking autumn foliage and feel the freedom of the open road as you tour the spectacular Cabot Trail.
