With friendly and welcoming people and state-of-the-art infrastructure, a stay here will be a welcome break from a long flight.

Take your flight to Darwin. The capital of the Northern territory, Darwin is gateway to some of the best wildlife and cultural experiences in the country in Katharine, Lichfield and Kakadu National Parks, as well as being a starting or end point for a journey in the incredible Ghan train. A vibrant and youthful city, it sits on a harbour twice the size of Sydney’s and its tropical climate during the summertime gives it a unique appeal and charm not found elsewhere in Australia

Day 5 : Darwin City Sights & Jumping Crocodiles

Your day will be filled with two incredible tours:

Morning Darwin City Sights. This city sights tour is the perfect introduction to Darwin. See the lush Botanic Gardens and the Chinese Temple, which was re-built after it was totally demolished by Cyclone Tracy in 1974. Tour the historic sites of the city including the East Point Military Precinct. See the Stokes Hill Wharf area, the Mooring Basin and Darwin Aviation Museum. There is also time available to explore the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory, whose collections encompass Aboriginal art, visual arts and Northern Territory history and natural sciences. At the completion of the tour you will be transferred to your Darwin accommodation. What to bring: bottle of water, hat, sunscreen and camera.

Afternoon Jumping Crocs & Nature Adventure. This tour takes you to Adelaide River, 60km from Darwin, home to over 1600 Crocodiles and the location of the famous Jumping Crocodiles. Cruise the river and thrill as these awesome creatures launch themselves out of the water. The cruise will enable you to see these prehistoric creatures at close range. Afterwards continue to the Window on the Wetlands Visitor Centre for view over the Marrakai Plains, followed by Fogg Dam Nature Reserve to view a wetland ecosystem up close. You will then return back to Darwin and be transferred to your Darwin accommodation. What to bring: bottle of water, hat, sunscreen and camera.

Day 6 : Full Day Litchfield National Park Waterfalls

This tour takes you to Litchfield National Park, which contains Top End habitats including lush monsoon forests, termite mounds, unusual rock formations, waterfalls and cascades. Stop at Florence Falls, where you have the opportunity for a scenic and interpretive bush and monsoon vine forest walk. There is also the chance for a swim by making your way down the stairs to the plunge pool below. Travel on to Tolmer Falls for a magnificent view of the water cascading down to the deep waterhole at the base of the falls. Finally visit Wangi Falls, with its large crystal clear pool, another relaxing spot for a swim. During the green season four major waterfalls thunder from the cliffs to tropical rock pools many metres below. During the dry season, the waterfalls flow more gently, making the waterholes perfect spots for a cool dip. The Park’s traditional owners are the Wagait Aboriginal people, many of whom live in the area. On the way back to Darwin, stop at Howard Spring Nature Park where you will have the chance to feed the barramundi and turtles. On your return to Darwin you will be transferred to your Darwin accommodation. What to bring: bottle of water, hat, sunscreen, swimmers, towel and wear comfortable walking shoes. Packed lunch will be provided.

Day 7-8 : Kakadu

Pick up your car rental and head towards Kakadu to explore Australia's biggest national park. You will find ancient landscapes with thundering waterfalls, lush rainforests, wandering wetlands, exotic wildlife and ancient rock art.

On the following day, enjoy a full day

Arnhemlander Cultural & Heritage 4WD Tour

Day 9-10 : Nitmiluk (Katherine) Gorge

Drive where the Outback meets the tropics, Katherine is famous for the Katherine Gorge and its position as the crossroads of the territory. A region full of gorges and misty waterfalls, thermal springs and ancient cultures.

Day 11 : Darwin

Free Day to explore Darwin.

Day 12 : Darwin-Alice Springs

Drop your car rental and take a flight to Alice Springs, a remote town in Australia’s Northern Territory, halfway between Darwin and Adelaide, both 1,500km away. Known to the locals as “Alice”, this town embodies the Australian spirit, from the ancient desert it sits upon to its Aboriginal culture.

Day 13 : West MacDonnell Ranges Tour

This tour provides you with the opportunity to experience the magnificent grandeur of the West MacDonnell Ranges, the deep red cleft of Standley Chasm, the mystique of Ellery Creek Big Hole, the cultural significance of the Ochre Pits. Visit Glen Helen Gorge. See the immense cliffs of quartzite at Simpsons Gap, a haven for a colony of black footed rock wallabies. At the completion of the tour you will be transferred to your Alice Springs accommodation.

Day 14-15 : Alice Springs - Ayers Rock (Uluru)

Morning Alice Springs to Ayers Rock Resort. Your journey from Alice Springs to Uluru (Ayers Rock) will take in the rugged desert landscapes of the region, passing through the beautiful MacDonnell Ranges. While travelling through this remote country, you will be provided with informative commentary. Learn the natural and geological history of the region, the unique Australian desert flora and fauna as well as the traditional customs and beliefs of the local Aboriginals. Stop at Erldunda Roadhouse to view flat topped Atila (Mt Conner) in the distance, before arriving at Ayers Rock Resort.

Evening Uluru Sunset and BBQ Tour. Your tour travels to the Uluru sunset viewing area. Uluru is 348 metres high, however most of its mass is below the ground. Enjoy nibbles and a complimentary glass of wine as the sun sinks over the western horizon and the evening sky brings out the many shades of colour for which Uluru is famous. It is recommended that you photograph Uluru every 5 minutes to really capture the gradual colour changes of the rock. After sunset, transfer to the AAT Kings’ exclusive barbecue site to enjoy dinner. Your guide will conduct a tour of the night sky (weather permitting) and also explain some Aboriginal stories that relate to the stars. You will then be transferred to your Ayers Rock Resort accommodation (except The Lost Camel).

Day 16 : Ayers Rock (Uluru)-Melbourne

Take your flight to Melbourne. Bursting with history and culture, Melbourne was once Australia’s capital and still lays claim to be its cultural capital and most liveable city. With a 175 year history it’s a cultural melting pot, sophisticated, elegant and cosmopolitan; a centre of arts, culture, fashion and sport. Tree lined boulevards, spacious parks, an eclectic mix of boutiques in little alleyways and Victorian arcades; a remarkably European café culture and restaurant scene and on the banks of the Yarra River, the fabulous Southbank entertainment area. And less than two hours away you’ll find great “must see” attractions and world class vineyards.

Day 17-18 : Melbourne - UK

Make you way to the airport in time to check-in for your homeward flight
