Explore the wonders of the American West on this self-drive and rail itinerary, taking in the vibrancy and excitement of iconic Las Vegas, before driving through the canyonlands and national parks of Arizona and Utah and journey on to relax aboard the Rocky Mountaineer from Moab to Denver. Spend time in a bygone era at the Grand Canyon Railway hotel and admire one of the Seven Wonders of the World and see the sandstone masterpieces of Monument Valley. Moab is the gateway to the stunning Arches National Park, and you’ll finish your adventure in the Mile High City of Denver – a metropolis dating back to the Old West era.

Day 1 : UK - Las Vegas

Arrive in Las Vegas today following your flight from the UK. Make your own way to your hotel and check in for a 2 night stay. The rest of the evening is free to explore some of the world-renowned entertainment and dining options along the famous Las Vegas Strip.

Day 2 : Las Vegas

A free day in Las Vegas. You may wish to take a walk down Fremont Street, and take a photo with the Fabulous Las Vegas sign. Watch the synchronised fountains at the Bellagio, or ride a gondola at the Venetian.

Day 3 : Las Vegas to Williams

Return to the airport this morning to collect your car rental. Drive the 3-4 hours over to Williams, Arizona where you’ll stay for 2 nights. On the doorstep to the Grand Canyon National Park, Williams is full of Americana-style shops and restaurants dating back to the early 20th century and is a stop on the iconic Route 66.

Day 4 : Williams

Pay a visit to the Grand Canyon, one of the Seven Wonders of the World by road or rail on the historic Grand Canyon Railroad, please ask us for more information if you’d like this added to your itinerary.

Day 5 : Williams to Monument Valley

Depart Williams today for your drive to Monument Valley, Utah. You’ll spend the night here in one of the Southwest’s most stunning settings – its easy to see why this area has hosted film crews, photographers, artists and tourists from around the world.

Day 6 : Monument Valley to Moab

Today you’ll drive from Monument Valley to Moab taking in the breathtaking red rock landscapes. Check into your hotel for 2 nights.

Day 7 : Moab

Today is a free day in Moab – you may choose to drive out to Arches National Park, home to over 2,000 natural stone arches, soaring pinnacles and giant balanced rocks. Make sure to book your entry in advance. You could also pay a visit to the Museum of Moab, showcasing dinosaur bones and archaeological artefacts from this unique area of America. Return your car hire at Moab airport this afternoon.

Day 8 : Moab to Glenwood Springs on Rocky Mountaineer

Join the Rocky Mountaineer this afternoon to set out on your journey to Glenwood Springs. Enjoy dinner whilst taking in the scenic views of the American Southwest. You’ll take in the mountain views of Mount Garfield and Ruby Canyon, before sipping on a cocktail as you arrive into your overnight location of Glenwood Springs.

Day 9 : Glenwood Springs to Denver

Leave beautiful Glenwood Springs this morning as you continue east towards Denver. Breakfast and lunch are served aboard today, as you travel along the Colorado River. After you cross the Continental Divide, you make your way towards Denver where your Rocky Mountaineer journey comes to an end.

Day 10 : Denver

Today is a day at leisure to explore all that the vibrant city of Denver has to offer. Known as one of the most liveable cities in the USA, you’ll find trendy breweries, excellent galleries and a plentiful food offering all with 360 degree mountain views.

Day 11-12 : Denver - UK

Enjoy the morning in Denver before you make your way back to the airport for your overnight flight back to the UK.
